Time thieves

Well the thief of time has certainly been very busy. I blinked and there was another month gone. I've been house-sitting for the past few weeks, alternating between my house and my friends. Last day today and back to normal till the next detour happens.

I had fully intended to use the time stitching chrissie presents and finishing off the dreaded ufo's, catching up on my reading and just chilling out but didn't do much of anything. I still have problems settling down to do anything. I did however crochet 42 seven inch granny squares in dusty rose and cream for a baby blanket as requested by a friend (this is me doing nothing) and I managed to put a few crosses in two pictures that will eventually be a friends very very belated by a couple of years joint christmas and birthday pressie. I contemplated which cross stitch I would do for my grandkids and borrowed my friends puter to spend time blog hopping and looking for inspiration.

I've decided I will set up a new blog purely for craft. THis one is mainly for reli's and friends to catch up with my life in Oz. I know my bro prints my posts out to show our mom.
As with the rest of the world we've had unusual weather conditions, fires burning all around us, very warm weather for spring, constant wind blowing and then persistant drizzle. I'm dreading the cyclone season, who knows what that will bring. I suppose i should start getting the emergency stuff ready just in case - t-lights, batteries, small radio, tinned food and a first aid kit, matches, torches, spare gas bottle and in my case - pack a bag of small craft projects to do, something easy to do by candle-light. The last biggie we were without power for nearly two weeks, all the roads up the mountain blocked so food and petrol was scarse. We were lucky we hadn't much damage to the house (the trees all fell away from the house) just a few smashed windows and the whirly bird off the roof ripped off. We missed the actual cyclone that year as we flew out to brisbane the night before (the last plane out) for Miks PET scan and flew back the next evening (the first plane back in) but we couldn't drive home for a few days till the road up the mountain had been cleared of all the landslides and debris from falling trees. I know at the time Mik was having his PET scan I was on the mobile to my son who was at my house with his daughter and all we could here was banging and clattering and the most awful wind sounds (like a jet plane bearing down on them) he said sheets of tin were flying past the windows, next doors shed had taken off ripped out of the ground, I had water pouring in over the gas cook top and then the connection was broken and all communication was lost. Driving through all the devastion on the coast and then following the trail up the mountains was heartbreaking, so many homes lost. Everyone came together to help each other clear fallen trees, clear roads etc. Our neighbours borrowed a generator and we were able to hook up to it and keep our fridge going, we only had water at certain times of the day. Looking back is was just another thing to take our minds off the devastation that was to follow soon after when the results of the PET scan came back. Rereading my old posts I wonder how I got through everything.

I'll be back on my own puter tonight so I can plan my new blog, no rantings or musings or wanderings

I love hearing what you have to say, at least I know then that I am not waffling along all on my own. Is there anybody out there............
